Prata Arquitetos is the result of a collaboration between two generations of architects — Carlos Prata (father) and Catarina Prata (daughter) — bringing together complementary experiences and a shared vision of architectural practice. Over several decades, Carlos Prata has developed a solid and consistent practice, characterised by a diversity of scales and programmes and a close relationship with the local area and with construction. His career includes significant projects in the field of education, such as the Soares dos Reis Art School, the Clara de Resende School, the School of Hospitality and Tourism, and the Aurélia de Sousa Secondary School, as well as landmark interventions in the field of urban design, notably the urban redevelopment of Avenida General Silveira, the Douro Jetties, and the Douro riverfront. These projects demonstrate a rigorous and consistent approach, grounded in accumulated experience and a deep understanding of professional practice, reflected in a well-established portfolio.
